Summary: 

Early one morning, mother duck goes all around the pond asking different animals if they have seen her duckling. After multiple attempts, she finally finds her duckling and the story ends with them all sleeping peacefully under the stars. 


Evaluation and Comments: 

With the few words mentioned in the book, Have You Seen My Duckling is mostly told through the illustrations. As we see the mother duck swim through the pond, we are also able to see the other animals she comes across, such as a beaver and a bird. Also, if you look closely enough, you can find the missing duckling hiding in the background! 

Like mentioned above, since the book is told mostly through the illustrations, this book would work best for younger students, particularly Pre-k and Kinder. An activity you can do with the students is you can have students try to find where the missing duckling is hiding on each page. You can also check understanding by having students state all the animals the Mother Duck met in order.
